  • Your card will be mailed to you in about 2 weeks. Your personal identification number (PIN) will arrive separately.

Important Tips When Traveling Outside the U.S.

  • Your Visa Check card will work in ATMs when traveling.  ATM systems are generally reliable, but they vary from country to country.  For your protection, we recommend you take at least one other plastic card (in addition to your Visa Check card) when traveling outside of the United States.  Contact us if you are planning to travel overseas so we may discuss additional options for accessing cash while traveling, for example the Visa Classic or Visa Platinum cards.
  • Outside the U.S., the Visa Check Card works in ATMs displaying the Visa logo and in some ATMs displaying the PLUS Network logo.
  • The check card can also be used to make purchases at any business displaying the Visa logo.
  • Many non U.S. banks only allow ATM withdrawals from a checking account, not savings.
  • A 1% currency exchange fee is charged when using your card overseas for Visa or ATM transactions.  The purchase amount and the fee will be withdrawn from your account separately.  The rate is selected by Visa.

How can you get a Visa Check Card?

Apply at any office, call 1-800-968-8628, or 662-8200 and have an application mailed to you, or apply online. We'll process your request and you'll have your card within two weeks.

Special Notices:

  1. If you use your Visa check card (or credit card) for a signature based transaction in a foreign country, Visa's 1% international service fee to convert the foreign transaction into US dollars will appear as a separate transaction on your statement.
  2. Visa requires consumers to enter a password when making Internet purchases with a Visa check card or Visa credit card from certain merchants. This is called "Verified by Visa."  You can create your password now by visiting www.visa.com/verified.*  The password is linked to your card, not to your computer.
